For thousands of years, the Kamentsa Biya community's ancestors diligently studied and harnessed the healing properties of the region's diverse flora. These indigenous elders passed down their wisdom, generation after generation, in a profound and symbiotic relationship with the natural world. Yet, over the past century, as the forces of modernization and colonization swept through the Amazon, this sacred knowledge teetered on the brink of extinction.
Recognizing the urgency of preserving this ancestral wisdom and the plant species is integral. OIOC and the Kamentsa Indigenous Reserve have worked tirelessly for the past decade. Our mission is to rescue and safeguard the Amazon's most ancient and endangered medicinal plants.

The project encompasses the physical rescue of these plants and the cultivation, documentation, and scientific study of their properties at Shanayoy Healing Center. Through this multifaceted effort, we aim to ensure the survival of these irreplaceable species and the continuation of the ancient healing traditions tied to them.

However, the project's vision extends beyond preservation alone. It seeks to bridge the wisdom of the past with the tools of the present by establishing a state-of-the-art scientific laboratory.
