Revitalize an Endangered Indigenous Language in the Colombian Amazon
Support the Kamëntsá People in Preserving Their Ancestral Knowledge and Culture
The Kamëntsá are one of the last Indigenous nations of the Colombian Amazon’s Piedemonte region—guardians of the sacred plant Yagé (Ayahuasca) and holders of ecological and spiritual wisdom passed down for centuries. Today, their ancestral language is on the verge of extinction.
Only 6% of the Kamëntsá population still speaks it perfectly.
Through our Kamëntsá Language Revitalization Project, you can help us create immersive schools, train Indigenous educators, and develop community-led cultural materials that will keep this sacred language—and all it carries—alive for generations to come.
This is more than a language—it’s a living system of healing, ceremony, and Earth knowledge.

We’ve launched a powerful, community-led effort to bring the Kamëntsá language back to life. Our work includes:
-
Formal language instruction for 360 Indigenous children
-
Three community-based immersion schools, meeting weekly in Kamëntsá villages
-
Creation of interactive educational materials, theater pieces, and traditional music in the Kamëntsá language
-
Training local youth and elders as cultural leaders and language educators
-
Installation of Kamëntsá-language signage in public schools and community spaces
This program combines language revitalization, cultural empowerment, and intergenerational healing. It’s a living model of resilience and renewal.
